Help Support Wikipedia!
December 18, 2009

How many times a week or a day do you use Wikipedia?  How many things would you never bother to look up if it required a trip to the library or searching through dozens of unorganized web pages and wondering who to trust?

Wikipedia fosters a love of learning and an excitement for finding answers that more inaccessible methods of research do not.  Instant gratification allows curiousity to be satisfied and encourages more questions and more learning. Freeing kids and adults alike from tedious, offline methods of finding information, it is an amazing resource for creating a learning culture. What did we do before it?  Learn a lot less...

We support Wikipedia by making an annual donation, and hope you will too.

Welcome Governor Strickland
November 11, 2009

We were honored to welcome Ohio Governor Ted Strickland and other local officials today, for a tour of our facilities as well as demo of some of our Tech Division research and development projects.  It was a pleasure Governor, and thanks for all your support of high tech in Ohio!

Kings Island 2009
August 11-12, 2009

Our annual roller-coaster trek was another great day.  Whether it was all day thrill coasters or a day of kiddie fun in Nickelodeon World, everybody had a great day.  But boy, the bus was sure a lot quieter on the way home than on the way out...except for a few snores...

Shark Tank
August 9, 2009

We give a big thumbs up to Shark Tank, a new network show.  Haven't watched it?  Give it a try.  Entertaining, and should be required viewing for all business students.

4th of July, YEI Version
July 4, 2009

Well, the fog and rain caused the Portsmouth fireworks to be postponed to July 5th.  But that didn't stop us from celebrating.  A quick trip to the fireworks hut on the hill and a giant pile of fireworks later, we were ready for a rooftop show along with a building across the street.  No fingers lost, no fires started, another good year!

Welcome new Programmers!
July 1, 2009

Hello to Matt, Andy, and Derek. All three were interns under the Ohio Third Frontier program, and we're happy to have them come on board full-time now that they have graduated. Congrats and welcome!

Food Fridays are the Best!
April 10, 2009

Food Fridays are continuing through 2009. Every other Friday, our Healthcare Policy Supervisor Aimee, dons an apron and becomes Super-Chef. By noon the office smells fabulous and we are all starved, and gather around some of the best food in town, including dessert. She even puts out a cookbook at the end of the year for us poor mortals who dare to try to duplicate her recipes. We love you Aimee!

Battlestar Galactica Ends
March 20, 2009

After years of devoted viewing, Battlestar ended tonight in a mere 2 hours. That was it, really? Wasn't it supposed to explain all and tie up the loose ends? Maybe the writers forgot half of the loose ends they started? Angels? That explains everything? Sporadically visible angels? And the fate of the Cylon and human races depend on the kid...how exactly? And the jumps and the music and the mysticism all meant what? Nothing or everything? Ending the series was a tall order, we hoped they would do better..

YEI Sends Care Packages to Troops
March 4, 2009

As part of our annual YEI donations, we again put together care packages to send to military personnel deployed abroad. This year we sent individual packages to 16 troops, included snacks, toiletries, personal supplies, magazines, and other assorted items from their wish lists. Do the same in your office -- visit http://www.anysoldier.com for details. It makes a difference for the troops, so just do it!

Max Payne at the Portsmouth 8 Cinemas tonight. C'mon, it's based on a video game. We love it unconditionally.

Kings Island Day!
August 13, 2008

Roller coasters -- woo woo! Today was YEI Kings Island Day, and employees and their families enjoyed the day at the park, and plenty of bad sci-fi movies on the bus trip. There was a model up of a brand new ride for next year...can't wait!

Movie Night: Don't Mess with the Zohan
June 10, 2008

Don't Mess with the Zohan at the Portsmouth 8 Cinemas tonight. Wow. Not much to say except wow. Awful and funny all rolled together.

Teak Thai Night in Cincinnati
May 24, 2008

YEI's annual employee and family dinner was held at Teak Thai in Cincinnati this year. Although it has been a long-time favorite, it may be our last year. Teak, the food is always good, but your floors are getting dirtier every year...

YEI Sends Personal Supplies to Troops
March 28, 2008

In March 2008, YEI and its employees again put together care packages to send to military personnel deployed abroad. This year we provided 20 individual care packages to units deployed in Afghanistan and Iraq. Packages included snacks, toiletries, personal supplies, magazines, and other assorted items. We encourage others to do the same through http://www.anysoldier.com and take care of our military units stationed in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Movie Night: Jumper
March 6, 2008

Jumper at the Portsmouth 8 Cinemas tonight. Not bad. Not completely satisfying. But fun.

YEI Gets New Office Pet
February 10, 2008

The office was excited at the arrival of our newest pet Pleo! This adorable small green dinosaur has found its way onto just about every desk, and is regularly kidnapped between workbenches. Although it is occasionally disturbing to hear dinosaur roars or robotic snoring, we're all adjusting. The office cats and dogs aren't too sure about it, but the assorted office kids of all ages love him. Get yours today at Amazon :-)
